You’re making parenting harder than it needs to be! ⠀
If you’re like most people thinking that parenting is a hard job, well, that thought could actually be hurting you and your child. ⠀
It’s one of the biggest misconceptions about living with young children. ⠀
But I get it. Everyone says that you’ll never sleep again, have a life, get yelled at or even get thrown up on and yes, the list goes on. ⠀
So it’s easy to believe it. ⠀
But honestly, if that were true then everyone who lived with young children would be miserable? And we all know that’s not the case. ⠀
In fact, if you keep holding on to this belief you’ll become resentful towards your child, hurt their self-esteem and you’ll both need lots of therapy, but most importantly you’ll miss out on one of the most exhilarating time of your life and theirs.
Did you know you can actually enjoy parenting?

You’ll have to let go of outdated beliefs, thinking you ‘need’ to do everything for your child, that they’re incapable of helping and god forbid be invited to help around the house. ⠀
Or that you have to stop living or working on your own passions because they need you more. ⠀
Because you and I know that will get you nowhere fast and I’m here to tell you it does not have to be this way. ⠀
Being aware of their different needs is important, knowing you’re in a season of caregiving is a fact. And knowing that this is a moment in time that is crucial for your child’s well-being setting the foundation for the rest of their life is also a fact.
These facts are important to accept as part of the journey, because they are part of the role YOU decided to take on. But also get you excited about how you can truly be the foundation for your child’s well-being.
By trusting and having faith in your child’s capabilities and simplifying your day to day life will enable you to have more fun and make parenting a lot more enjoyable. ⠀
And most importantly you’ll be giving your child a sense of significance and belonging that you and I know they desperately need to become competent, resilient and self-sufficient adults. ⠀
Do you really want to keep thinking that parenting is just a tough grueling job and feel resentful towards your child? And possibly hurt their self-esteem? ⠀
I didn’t think so.
